A day later, when time runs down

I catch up in the quiet stillness

no hurries or bustling about

I sit in the silent wonder

upon my porch

Watching the world slip away

While I let go of the worries around me

I have to release the troubles, remember the joy I have and be grateful

Not an easy task, mind you

But I can be thankful in the small things

Silent and still, writing down every little detail of thankfulness

Being joyful in the small moments

And gracious in the big ones

While I await in the hardest times

Being still

Knowing nothing is too much or too little

To be thankful for in God

Let me bloom in the light of the sun

And in the morning dew

When the sun begins to rise o’er the horizon

Let me flourish when things go awry

Or fall apart

I can’t wither or crumble under the strain

When weeds envelop, choking the joy

Or it strains the chords of hope

Let my heart not forget

When life gets rough

I am never alone

Rainy day, come blowing on the clouds

Thunder rumbling in the distance

Wind tumbling through the fields, lightning flickering about

Humid temperatures, pushing on the trees

The weather is bound to change as the rain comes on

Absorbing the ground, nourish the plants

Growing up into the skies
